I came across July about 8 years ago and was floored as to the quality of the songs, sound and production of the album. Amazed that album didnt fly high on the ability of its own merits.
Hey Brian, what a great list! Even the ones you showed before you got to the top 20 are fantastic. July is just mind blowing, and the End is awesome. Blossom Toes gives off a Piper at the Gates kinda vibe. I have the US version of the Idle Race LP, great stuff, and you are correct in the fact that some songs sound like early ELO. I have a weird Soft Machine comp of their first 2 albums, and would like to get them separately. I remember seeing Crazy World of Arthur Brown on Ed Sullivan, with flaming helmet, Ed looked a bit nervous! Love that Art album, every song a gem! Deviants Rule! You're right, Disposable isn't shown as much as their other two, but it's just as good. Emerlist Davjack is my favorite Nice album, that opening track, Flower King of Flies is a great psych song. I have yet to listen to Horse, first one you showed that I don't have! Odessy and Oracle is classic! Open Mind's Magic Potion is such a great track. I need to pull out Pussy and play it! Thanks for the mention with the Five Day Week LP, another band John Ducann was in was the Attack, a great psych band that released only singles, but there is a comp available. Gun is a great album, as is their second album, Gunsight. I have the same RSD press of that Tomorrow album, love it. Just picked up a copy of SF Sorrow with the UK cover, incredible album. The Pink Fairies song, Heavenly Man sounds a bit like Bowie's Space Oddity. I'm having a hard time finding that Archazel LP, there's no US sellers for that on Discogs or Ebay, my only hope is that it turns up at one of the stores I frequent. Ogden's is the Small Faces' psychedelic masterpiece! Thanks for blowing my mind with this far out and groovy selection of British psych!🥴😵😵💫
Good Job!! My Brother Man!!! ..... I Remember Getting " Satanic Majesties" For Christmas... All The Family And Grandparents Sitting Around.. Unwrapping Presents.. MY Sister Says " What Album Did You Get"? I Held It Up And Said The Name!!!! The Whole Room Went Quiet!; I Was 15 I Lived It!!!!!
Great picks as always Cos. For a small island area, the U.K. is overloaded with musical talent, the finest bands produced in the 60's and 70's. Hell you did not even have to mention Pink Floyd, Cream or Deep Purple! So many in bullets in the belt, its hard to choose. I would ad Caravan's (best known for their 3rd album 1970's In The Land Of Grey And Pink) first album (S.T. 1968)as a psych classic. Throw in The Edgar Broughton Band's first album "Wasa Wasa" and Status Quo's first 'Pictures Of Matchstick Men followed by some Traffic with "Mr. Fantasy" and Nektar's "Journey To The Centre Of The Eye". Obscure U.K. psych is where its at for me, groups you mentioned like July and Horse as well as Sam Gopal on an earlier show. Having shared the sacred herb backstage with Hawkwind on a number of occasions, they have a special place in my collection. Anything Hawkwind is classic psych to me.
Hey Cosmic Brian!! Cool list 🔥I was thinking about getting the Horse record but then the single record was reissued so I picked that up killer stuff🤘🏻 Found that Pretty Things double album in an antique store a couple years back love both albums 🔥 I was waiting for you to show Kaleidoscope both those albums are amazing picked up reissues Take care Brian ☮️

Hey B!! Yeah we kinda screwed ourselves by using that Gun music clip as YT decided to shut us down so we had to remove it. That’ll screw us up in the algorithm Ugh! Oh well hopefully the video will be carried by the great album content! Glad you got in to see the vid before it was taken down! The Perch warned me about all these clips could cause us issues with YT but as always I ignored his sage words. Some great stuff to dig into here B! You can’t go wrong with any of these records! That Jimi LP is one I’ve had in the collection since I was in high school. Such a great album! Alright man Have a super Cosmic week and stay warm! Oh btw the Perch gave me that Iggy tee! Oh Cosmic One we meet again on the super information highway! I have a copy of that July record. It's amazing. Apparently it's the favourite album of the dude from the UK band The Horrors. Their albums Primary Colours & Skying are mind blowing. Listen to the track Sea Within A Sea to get the vibe. Always keep it fresh man. As a viewer it's always good to see stuff on the outer rim of the Cosmic Realm. Jeff Lynne sans beard & shade...woah! I need to get some Soft Machine on vinyl to get aurally stoned to the be-jeebuzz. Imagine seeing Arthur Brown back in the day, coming from the roof with his head on fire while singing Fire. Who needs drugs with shit like that!! Supernatural Fairytales looked like a picture disc at first. Every time you show the Deviants it hurts a little, because the only time I see their stuff it's stoopid expensive. Wind Cries Mary gets me every time. I saw you show Arzechel ages ago & I'm still searchin' for it! Small Faces are one of the best UK bands ever! Thanks for the reply. You might want to add Mighty Baby to your list, a fantastic acid jam band who often played with Quintessence/Pink Fairies/Hawkwind.
